El Papel

The image side of the paper shows a yellow tone to UV light that exists in several shades from light to intense yellow. Under the same UV light,the back, or gum side,of the stamp can be distinguished into 3 types:

Type 1: weak bluish-white opaque appearance, mottled in intensity, image slightly visible.
Type 1 paper has ivory colored gum.

Type 2: uniform bright bluish-white opaque appearance, image invisible.
Type 2 paper has both white and ivory gum.

Type 3: no response to a darkish yellow appearance with an occasional blue spot, image on front slightly visible.
Type 3 paper has ivory colored gum.

All of the 2 peso stamps in Series 1 have a dot in the V in Davidson.

A first day cover of the 3.00 peso zapatos is postmarked November 28, 1975. The stamp on the first day cover appears to be a yellow brown. I have not examined it. I have a right lower block of four of 1.8f, a mottled yellow brown, that has the date November 21, 1975 printed in the selvedge below the stamps.

There were 100,000 planillas printed in 1975 (harrow); in 1976, 200,000 planillas (harrow).

In 1975, the 1.60 bicycles was printed in a comb perf. run of 181,786 planillas. In 1976, there was another comb perf. run of 1,076,814. In 1977, there was another comb perf. run of 185,198 planillas.

In 1976, there was a harrow perf. printing of 556,202 planillas.

La Bionica

There is an error known in the 1.60 bicycles where the sheet of paper was reversed during the printing of the stamp.

The yellow color appears on the gum side of the stamp under UV light and the blue-white appearance appears on the image side, el vineta, of the stamp.

The gum side of the stamp shows a heavy or intense yellow color.

The image appears the same as 1.14e: a thick black bicycle with a medium gray orange logo.

There have been at least four sheets of this error printed. Two mint sheets have been noted by Sr. Celis Cano. One postally used copy of this error exists postmarked from Tultitlan, a small town in the state of Mexico that is the home of a Ford automobile factory. Three other postally used copies on cover exist postmarked from Mexico City.

There should be over 100 copies postally used in addition to the two sheets that are mint. It is only from these mint sheets can the distinction between harrow and comb perforations be made.

It is interesting that all of the known postmarks are at least two years after the printing of the stamp.
