When our family moved to another town and I
had to say goodbye to my friends, I was sort of sad for awhile. Then
I got a letter from Sandra (only everyone calls her Sandy) which cheered
me up. I answered her and we kept writing back and forth.
I've kept the letters Sandy sent. Maybe you'd
like to read them and find out what happened at her house last Easter.

Dear Mark (Marco Polo),
We sure miss you. I wish your family hadn't moved
away. Tim and I loved to play in your treehouse and with
your dog. My mom said to write to you a letter so that is
what I am doing because,

Dear Marco,
I'm writing to you to tell you about our new
puppy. She's an Irish terrier. My dad bought her from the neighbors
and
brought her to us in a basket. She's so cute! My dad's going
to make her a dog house. How is your dog?
Friends forever,
Sandy

Dear Mark the Shark,
Well, we named the dog: Shanty O'Shannon;
but we just call her "Shanty" for short. She loves to dig. You
should see her
doghouse. It's white and we painted green shamrocks all over it.
Miss you,
Sandy

Dear Mark,
I hope you are having a nice summer vacation.
Today we put Shanty in Tim's old stroller but she didn't like it very much
and jumped out. She hid in her doghouse the rest of the day.
Hey, do you guys have e-mail? Send me your e-mail address

Hi, Mark,
Well, school has started again. Fourth grade is o.k. so far.
Mostly though, I like to come home and play with Shanty.
We've taught her how to heel and roll over!

Dear Marco,
Haven't written for awhile because of the holidays and because I've
had lots of homework. Guess what? Shanty is going
to have puppies. We can hardly wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY EASTER!
To Mark,
My mom was getting ready to send your folks
an Easter card so I thought I'd tuck this note in. It will be short
though,
because we're pretty busy taking care of six new puppies. They
are so cute. We named the white one "Corky" because
her tail is like a corkscrew.
What happened was that my dad decided to take
us for a ride along the coast on Easter Sunday afternoon. We had
fun but I was kind of worried about Shanty. When we got home we
looked all over for her the backyard for her but
couldn't find her.
Then we looked inside. She must have come in
the house through her doggy-door because - lo and behold - we found
her on the bottom bunk bed in my bedroom, feeding her brand new puppies.
I slept on the couch that night because my
mom didn't want to move them. What an Easter present!
Love,
Sandy, the Nanny
P. S. Tell your mom to bring you for a visit this summer
so you can meet Shanty and the pups. That would be so cool.
