In order to maintain a quality Internet service, GVTC has adopted a set of guidelines known as our Acceptable Use Policy. This policy covers all users equally and applies to customer's dial-up use as well as mail, news and other services.

We ask that you check this periodically as we may add, delete or change some policies as the Internet evolves.

USAGE POLICIES

OVER USE

GVTC offers dial-up accounts such as our Basic Internet Account for $19.95 and our Web Hosting Accounts. These accounts offer full access to the Internet and access to all resources of the Internet while connected. All dial-up accounts are allowed an unlimited number of sessions, however these are not dedicated access accounts. If a user is continually using their Internet account over 8 hours a day, they will be asked to upgrade to a dedicated account such as our Dedicated Dial Up Account. If the user does not want a dedicated service, they may decrease the amount of time spent on line, or be subject to disconnection. You may review the usage of your account at any time by visiting Customer Usage Report.

SIMULTANEOUS SESSIONS/SHARING

All dial-up accounts are single user, single session accounts. Concurrent sessions for one username are not allowed. Sharing your username and password with others is against our acceptable usage policy and could subject you to disconnection. Additionally, ANY activity generated from your user account will be your sole liability, including abusive activity and copyright infringement issues.

SERVERS

GVTC provides many levels of Internet access service. You may NOT operate an Internet server with your GVTC Internet connection unless your Internet package includes static IP addresses. Basic Internet accounts, including dialup and basic broadband, provide dynamic IP addresses which are not suitable for running servers. GVTC reserves the right to enforce this policy at any time.

REDISTRIBUTION

GVTC provides IP connectivity for the sole and direct use of the customer subscribing to the service. IP services subscribed through GVTC may not in any way be re-distributed, re-sold, or otherwise utilized for any reason except Customer's network or computers. Reselling or Redistribution may be defined in many ways, including but not limited to: Commercial web hosting, or web hosting for profit other than the Customer's own site, Dial-Up or Direct connections including DOCSIS and/or DSL networks from which the Customer receives revenue. Violation of this agreement will result in immediate termination of IP connectivity.

NET ETIQUETTE

GVTC expects its users to respect other Internet users. Reckless, irresponsible or malicious behavior by a GVTC Internet user will be investigated and if substantiated, violators will be asked to cease or seek a new Internet provider. The following activities are in violation of our policies:

Unsolicited e-mail advertising (SPAM): Using GVTC mail servers to send bulk commercial e-mail is grounds for immediate termination.

Malicious e-mail: Repeatedly sending anyone e-mail with the intent to harm his or her account (flooding or mail bombing) is not allowed and grounds for termination.

Customers may not attempt to circumvent user authentication or security of any host, network, or account (cracking). This includes, but is not limited to, accessing data not intended for the Customer, logging into a server or account the Customer is not expressly authorized to access, or probing the security of other networks

Customers may not attempt to interfere with service to any user, host, or network (denial of service attacks). This includes, but is not limited to, flooding of networks, deliberate attempts to overload a service, and attempts to crash a host.

Customers may not use any kind of program/script/command, or send messages of any kind, designed to interfere with a user's terminal session, via any means, locally or by the Internet

Chain Letters: According to United States law, chain letters or pyramid schemes are illegal. GVTC Internet users engaged in these activities will be subject to termination

Inappropriate Web page material: GVTC reserves the right to suspend access to a user's Web page if we find that material to be offensive or disruptive to GVTC's Web servers.

The Internet is an evolving communications technology. GVTC will add, remove, and change our acceptable use policy as conditions on the Internet warrant action. GVTC urges you to review our policy from time to time. If you have questions about these policies, please e-mail gvhelp@gvtc.com
