Important Points
These instructions assume your email account has already been setup and is collecting email correctly.
Take a note of any settings you change.
Only change the items specified - you should not need to change either your email address, POP3 server, POP3 username / password.
Step One
- Load Windows (Vista) Mail
- From the main screen open the the 'Tools' menu and then select 'Accounts...'

Step Two
- Click on the email account to modify - this will cause it to become highlighted
- Click on the 'Properties' button

Step Three
- The Properties window should appear
- Click on the 'Servers' tab
- Under 'Outgoing Mail Server' tick 'My server requires authentication'
- Click 'More Settings...' button

Step Four
- Select 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'
- Click the 'Ok' button

Step Five
- Click the 'Close' button.

Step Six
- You should now be back to the main Windows Mail main screen
- Close Windows Mail and then reload
- Check you are online then test to ensure you can send mail correctly
