Voice Mail
When you are unable to answer the telephone or are on another call, Voice Mail will automatically take your calls and allow your callers to leave a personal message. After your phone rings for approximately 25 seconds, Voice Mail will answer the call. Your caller will hear a personalized greeting that you have recorded. You may change your greeting as often as you like. Voice Mail will store up to 30 new or saved messages for up to 10 days, depending on your package. Voice mail is easy to use. You should be able to master your Voice Mail by reading through this simple guide and by "playing" with Voice Mail. Don't worry, you can't break it, and we think you'll actually enjoy learning to use Voice Mail in this manner.

Setting Up Your Voice Mailbox
This user guide provides instructions for setting up your personal voice mailbox. Your seven digit phone number is your voice mailbox number. To set up your voice mailbox, first think of a 4 to 10 digit pass code and a greeting for your callers.
Follow these simple instructions to access your voice mailbox from the telephone number equipped with voice mail service for the very first time:
- Dial *17
- Enter your temporary pass code: 1234. All new voice mailboxes will have a temporary pass code of 1234.
- Follow the instruction prompts. You will be asked to enter a new pass code and record your announcement.
Accessing Your Mailbox
(after setting up your voice mailbox)
To access your voice mailbox from your telephone number associated with your voice mail service:
- Dial *17.
- Enter your pass code.
- Follow the instruction prompts.
To access your voice mail when you are not at the telephone number associated with your voice mailbox:
- Dial one of the retrieval numbers as shown below.
- Enter the telephone number associated with your voice mailbox when prompted to enter your mailbox number.
- Press * or 0 during the greeting.
- Follow the prompts.
*NOTE: If you subscribe to Per Line Blocking, it must be deactivated to access your Voice Mailbox. Dial *82 before the retrieval number, if applicable.
Message Waiting Notification
When a new message enters your mailbox, you will hear a special "stutter" dial tone the next time you pick up your telephone. You may make other calls even when you hear the stutter dial tone. After your retrieve all new messages, the normal dial tone is automatically restored.
Playing a message.
- Dial *17
- Enter your pass code
- Follow the instruction prompts.
- Press 7 to play the current message
- Listen to the message.
Press:
7 - To play the current message again
5 - To keep the message
3 - To discard the message
When playing a message.
Press:
* To move backwards 5 seconds
# To move forward 5 seconds
*Note: If you have the per-line blocking feature, it must be deactivated before retrieving messages.
If applicable, deactivate per-line blocking by dialing *82.
Call Forwarding Busy / No Answer
If you are already on an existing call and don't want to be interrupted, or if your line is not answered, your calls will be forwarded into your voice mailbox. This feature works in conjunction with your voice mailbox and cannot be deactivated. With Voice Mail, this feature is pre-configured by our Central Office and must remain unchanged in order for your Voice Mail to function properly.
User Options
Your Voice Mailbox options may be changed anytime you have accessed your voice mailbox.
- Access your mailbox (see "Accessing Your Voice Mailbox").
- Press 8 for User Options.

To access Voice Mail from your home phone, dial *17 when you hear the stutter dial tone.
To access Voice Mail from another telephone, dial one of the following retrieval numbers:

When traveling, use our main retrieval #: 438-MAIL
Follow typical long-distance procedures if appropriate. Long distance charges will apply. You may use a long distance calling card when accessing the system.
