We chose the Dexter because they possess all the desirable characteristics that we were looking for.

They are the smallest purebred breed of cattle in the world, measuring 36 to 44 inches at the shoulder at maturity. They are very hardy animals, thriving in both hot and cold climates with little difficulty and are ideal for limited acres. They will prosper on grass and vegetation that other cattle will not eat. They are easy to handle, very tractable and easily trained.

They are known for their ease in calving and make good mothers. They are sometimes used in cross breeding with larger beef breeds, on first calf heifers, to ensure easy calving. Breeding longevity is excellent with some cows calving regularly to 16 or 18 years of age

The Dexter has a high percent dressed carcass of lean, tender, flavor fine grained beef. Meat is well marbled and fine tasting. With less fat, the meat is ideal for the health conscious consumer. The Dexter is an ideal family milk cow with one of the highest % of butterfat and the milk is easily digested.

We have One bull calf available now (born October 25th 2004. We have one heifer calf available born June 2005.
