Layla is my first Grand Champion. She was a singleton puppy who went to Allana and Dan Hemenway at eleven days old to join Yvonne (Chosen Justabout Eve) and Summer (Ch Lockehill Careless Summer) who both had young litters and accepted joint custody of Layla. She thus had the advantage of foster littermates growing up. This began her close relationship with Allana who showed her to all but two of her championship points and all of her Grand Champion points.
In 2007 I first blended the two branches of Lockehill bitches when I bred Lucy's daughter Lockehill Dedicated to Love "Daisy" to Ch Atwater Honorably Chosen " Hammie" who comes down from Lottie. The result was a singleton pup Layla whose name is french for "the first step". This combination has continued with breedings to Ch Prairie Chosen Legacy "Rob" who also is tail female to Lottie, to my Lockehill Chosen Gabriella a Daisy daughter resulting in "Juliette" Lockehill Chosen N Bejewelled, co-owned with Barbara Wright of Chosen Shelties.

Right is Layla's sire Ch Atwater Honorably Chosen "Hammie". He passed his good looks to Layla as she looks just like him. Her dam Daisy (Lockehill Dedicated To Love) shown on the left as a pup gave Layla her great show temperament and movement so I would say it was a great combination. Daisy went to Shari Overbay as a pup so I do not have a grown up photo of her. Her litter sister Diedra (Ch Lockehill Chosen Delight) owned and finished by Barbara Wright, was so nice that when Shari decided to stop breeding, Daisy went to Barbara who was kind enough to share ownership with me. So miss Daisy made a big circle back to me and in time gave me two quality daughters.... Gabby (Lockehill Chosen Gabriella) by Ch Stonerhaven Samurai and Layla who was Daisy's last puppy. |

GCH CH Lockehill Le Premier Pas "Layla" Ch Atwater Honorably Chosen x Lockehill Dedicated To Love "Daisy" Left is Layla taking a 4pt Major under Judge Joy Bass at the Austin Specialty with Allana Hemenway and right winning another Specialty RWB at our Alamo Area SS Club Show with her co-breeder Barbara Wright handling. Judge Joe Molloy also awarded RWB to Layla's half brother Mystique Wikked Persuit "Chaz". Chaz, a Hammie son, also went on to complete his Grand Championship for owner Nancy Keen. Layla has a Best of Breed over three specials. Allana finished her in July 2011 and then took her to Grand Champion in just a few shows. Layla whelped her first litter by Ch Macdega Allegiance on December 12, 1211, two girls and one boy.

I leased Layla to Dan and Allana for her first litter as a reward for all Allana's hard work. She was bred to Ch Macdega Allegiance and whelped three girls December 12, 2011. Motherhood seems to suit Layla fine, hope the babies follow in her pawsteps.
