7938. Sir Edwin Sandies Jr was born on 9 Dec 1561 in Worcester, , England. He died in Oct 1629. He graduated B. A. from Corpus Christi College on 16 October 1579, M. A. on 5 July 1583 and B. C. L. on 23 April 1589. On 13 October 1586 Edwin Sandys entered Parliament as Member from Andover. Sandys joined King James VI of Scotland and accompanied him to England where he ruled as James I of England. Sandys was knighted by King James I at Charterhouse on 11 May 1603 and became a member of King James first Parliament as Member for Stockbridge. He became a member of the Virginia Company and in 1619 was elected Treasurer of the Virginia Company. During the years 1619, 1620 and 1621, the Virginia Company sent to Virginia 42 ships and 3570 men and women with provisions, cattle and the like. It dispatched the Mayflower from Plymouth, England, on 6 September 1620 with a load of 102 passengers. The company also sent 9 ships with 900 persons to settle in Bermuda.
He was married to Lady Margaret Eveleigh about 1596 in , , , England.
