“Naralex sleeps again!

“Long ago, Naralex journeyed to this cavern with the honorable goal of entering the Emerald Dream and regrowing the Barrens into a lush forest. His focus waned and his thoughts became tainted by serpentine visions.

“Now, reptilian beasts seep from his dreams to the land. He must be awoken from the nightmare or he will be forever lost, and a great evil unleashed. “Only after his corrupted servants, the Fanglords, have been slain can I perform the awakening ritual.”

 – Disciple of Naralex

 Walk-through

[Map]

Entering the caverns from the north tip of Lushwater Oasis, follow the curve of the cavern to the right and take the first left you come to. This will bring you to a small pool with two paths from it. Either way is good since the two paths quickly converge into one. Be careful of the Devouring Ectoplasm as they can clone themselves. The cave will curve again to the right and come to a large pool that does have creatures in it. Cross the cavern and this brings you into the very large Cavern of Mists. Follow the edge of the cavern to the right (counter-clockwise) until you reach the Instance entrance. Be careful of the hole in the middle of the path mid-way down.

Entering the cavern you meet a Disciple of Naralex who tells you about Naralex. Continue past the Disciple and follow the curve of the cavern until you reach the Screaming Gulley. Watch for wandering Druids of the Fang who can blast you from a distance. On the far side of the Gulley is Lady Anacondra (20 Elite), the first of the Fanglord. She is surrounded by 5 raptors and a Druid that will quickly join the fight if you can’t take one or two out first.

Back at the entrance to the Screaming Gulley there is a ramp going in both directions of the stream at the bottom of the gulley. Head down the left side (west) and follow the stream until you reach the Pit of Fangs. Follow the wandering path in front of you as it curves and winds around.  You will eventually come to Lord Cobrahn (20 Elite), the second of the Fanglord. With a pair of non-elite snakes at his feet, he’s a much easier foe than Anacondra.

Return to the ramps in the Searing Gulley and head for the East end of the Gulley. Continue to follow the stream and you will come to the Crag of the Everliving. As you reach the end of the stream you will see an opening through which you’ll see a ramp heading up to the right where Deviate Shamblers (19 Elite) are waiting. Much like the Pit of Fangs, this path will curve and wind around atop of itself. Eventually the path enters the Winding Chasm. The part takes a sharp turn left and continues up. The path will wrap around and come to “T.”

Going Left (North) from the “T” and you come to a large cavern. Follow the left side and you soon find Lord Pythas (21 Elite), the third Fanglord. A nearby Deviate Schambler and Druid make this slight more difficult than Cobrahn. Continue around the cavern until you meet with the right branch of the “T” just back inside the Winding Chasm. The path continues to climb upwards. Look for a hard-to-see opening on the right side blocked by rocks. If you miss it, continue up the path, which will “T” at the top. Turning right will bring you to a bond on the north side of the hidden cavern. Turning left will bring you to a break in the path above the hidden entrance and you can drop into the cavern.

Once you enter the cavern you will find Skum (21 Elite) in a pen guarded by two druids. Kill him for a blue cloak. Continuing southwest from Skum’s pen, you come to a branch to the right that goes up to the broken path. Continue forward. The path will take a northwest turn and comes to a short drop-off behind a waterfall back into the Crag of Everliving. Continue up to the end of the path. On the left side is Verdan the Everliving (21 Elite). Be sure to take him down for the Living Root Staff. After killing Verdan the Everliving, find Lord Serpentis (21 Elite), the final Fanglord, opposite the top of the path.

After killing the final Fanglord, the Disciple of Naralex will yell out for you to come aid him. Drop into a well behind where you fought Verdan the Everliving and come out on the east end of Searing Gulley. Return to the Disciple and accept his offer to escort him to Naralex’s Chamber. Try to clear as much of the Searing Gulley before accepting the escort quest or you will have to fight your to Naralex. Once there the Disciple will perform a ritual that brings two waves and a final boss. The first wave is three 21 Elite Deviate Mocasins, the second is a wave of level 21 Nightmare Ectoplams, and finally Mutanus the Devourer, a 22 Elite giant murloc. Defeat these waves to finish the instance and then head for the entrance to leave.
